Howdy friends! The band had a fantastic Stampede week – perfect weather, great shows, and lots of great food/fun along the way.
It actually kicked off in June with the Lake Bonavista Pre-Stampede Breakfast (and Eta Derksen and her line dancing crew were there – yeah!), then we had an Alzheimers’ Society BBQ, (and what great DANCERS there too!), then a private show for/with Smithbilt Hats (where I was lucky to get my hat all re-shaped just before the show), then First Flip (on a new stage this year – and the Chinook Country Line Dancers rocked it), with Darcy Stamp on fiddle too. Then we played parade morning at the Hotel le Germain on the parade route — that was really cool too. Lots of other private events at hotels/lounges, etc. and yes, my voice was still fine at the end of the week, although Steve’s (our keyboard player) had gone completely!
Thanks to the wonderful CREW – my musicians (Steve Bridgett, Scott Muirhead, and Richard Erickson) and Darcy Stamp (who also played two key shows with us), and my awesome hubby Gary Drew on sound/logistics, and George Drew (my son, who worked like a machine) setting up and tearing down gear. Yahooo! We’re seriously getting good at this!
